From Spiritual Death to Eternal Life. Pt.1

Jesus reveals that the spiritually dead are people who will hear His voice and receive eternal life. This spiritual awakening comes through faith, and faith comes through hearing His word. And with Scripture and genuine preaching, leading to authentic transformation and a relationship with God.

• Spiritually dead refers to those physically alive but separated from God through sin
• Genuine saving faith produces visible life changes, including Bible reading,   prayer life, and love for Jesus
• Knowing Christ personally is the essence of Christianity, not religious performance
• God has been patiently waiting for YOU for the past 2000 years.
• Our finite minds cannot comprehend God's truth without the Holy Spirit's help
• Spiritual hardness comes from our lack of understanding. Romans 3:10
• Jesus offers eternal life through personal relationships rather than religious rituals

What would you give in exchange for your soul? What does it profit a person to gain the whole world and lose their soul? These are the words of Christ himself.

Speaker 1:

Truly, truly, I say to you the hour is coming and is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. John 5, 25, 25. Hello and welcome to House Top Gospel. I'm Mike Gomez, thanks for dropping by. Did you hear that the hour is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live? So you might be asking how does a dead person hear the voice of anyone, let alone the Son of God? How can they hear if they're dead? And that's a very, very good question, right? Well, it's because Jesus is not referring to physicality, he's not referring to physically dead, because if you're dead physically Dead, because if you're dead physically well, it's too late for you, because you're dead. You had your chance. Now you go straight to judgment.

Speaker 1:

Hebrews 9.27. It is appointed for man to die, and after that comes judgment. And this goes for those who reject God and the one he sent, because all things were created through him and for him. He is the creator of all things. That's Colossians 1, verse 16. And if you dishonor the son whom he sent, then you dishonor Almighty God, because God sent Jesus Christ, his one and only Son. So Jesus was not referring to those already in their graves. He refers to those who are physically alive, but spiritually they're dead. And how so? Well, dead, dead in trespasses and sins, dead to God, and God is life. So it's not too late for you to get saved, that is, or born again, that is born of the eternal Spirit of God.

Speaker 1:

Jesus says if you hear his voice, you will live. If you hear the voice of the Son of God. And so how? So right, how does that work? Well, it's through His Word, through your Bible or perhaps some good preaching. If they're still out there, and God knows that, that's my prayer, I pray that God would send forth good preachers. And if you hear the voice of the Son of God, perhaps through your Bible or some good preaching, you will live. Because faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God that's Romans 10, in faith, in faith that will supernaturally lead you toward repentance and guide you away from sins, the sins of the world, and toward Christ.

Speaker 1:

And what I mean by faith is genuine saving faith. In other words, there is a change in your life. You started reading your Bible. You are making friends with other Christians, lifelong friendships. You find yourself going to church on a regular basis. You started praying. You've developed a regular basis. You started praying, you've developed a prayer life and you love it.

Speaker 1:

And, best of all, you have fallen in love with Jesus. You have become a born-again Christian and you come to realize that you love Jesus because he first loved you and he has always loved you. You come to realize that you love Jesus because he first loved you and he has always loved you. You come to that realization, and that would qualify as saving faith. And then the kingdom of God is open to you. You have become a member, as the Bible tells us, a member of God's family, as the Bible tells us, a member of God's family, and you develop a one-to-one, corresponding relationship, through prayer and the Word of God, with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. You have become a born-again believer. Life has meaning and purpose now and you will receive his eternal spirit, his love, forgiveness, his goodness and grace. You will no longer be judged nor condemned when you're through with your time on this earth Any longer. You have crossed over from death to life.

Speaker 1:

Jesus said so. The whole point is getting to know him, isn't it? Because you don't want to be one of those who, in that day, jesus says when he'll say to you depart from me, because I never knew you. Jesus said this. He says not everyone who says to me, lord, lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the ones who do the will of my father, who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day Lord, lord, did we not prophesy in your? That's Matthew, chapter 7, verse 21 and 23.

Speaker 1:

So, do you know him? Do you have Christ in your heart? Do you want to know him? And you might say well, how does somebody do that, right? Well, again, it's through his word. And that's a good thing. Curiosity, you know, you start to investigate. Did you know that it was Jesus's prayer that you know him? That was his prayer, that's right. He prayed to his father that you know him and his father. This was his petition in John, chapter 17, verse 3. He says listen to this. This is eternal life. Jesus says that they know you and he's referring to his father that they know you, the Father, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom God has sent. That is God's desire. It has always been his desire, that is, to have a relationship with his human family here on earth. Now, as we speak, this traces all the way back to Genesis, the Garden of Eden. God wanted his human family to have an intimate relationship with them here on earth and in the end, that's what God is going to have.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever wondered and perhaps you have, I've heard it many times why is this world so messed up? Well, it's because man does not know God. In fact, man hates God, man rejects God. Man doesn't even know God, but yet he blames God for all of the bad things in this world. Meanwhile, it is man, it is mankind that is messing up the world more and more and more through godlessness, through greed, through corruption, through lust for power, war, pride and self-interest. All are Antichrist, and all in the name of freedom.

Speaker 1:

And while all of this is going on in the world, god is waiting for you. That's right. God is waiting for you. The Bible clearly says that God is not willing for any to perish. God is long-suffering and kind and patient. God has been waiting and waiting for you for over 2,000 years. And you might say wait a minute, come on. 2,000 years, god has been waiting for you. That's right. Perhaps you weren't born yet, nor have you died yet, and you say well, come on, you expect me to believe that, and I get it.

Speaker 1:

But also try to understand who we're talking about here. We are talking about God eternal. This is very important. The Bible says that he is the everlasting God. God is eternal and what that means is that he lives in eternity, and that's where Christ has come from. He is infinitely eternal. He is uncreated. Try to grasp your mind around that Uncreated God. Nobody created God. He has always existed. There is no beginning with God, and if there is no beginning, then certainly there is no ending with God. He has always existed, he will always exist. For him there is no past or future, but only the everlasting present. He sees all things, he sees our past, he sees your past, he sees your future, but all in the present. We are the ones, as human beings, who die, who pass away. We're here today and we're gone tomorrow. Neither is tomorrow promised to anyone. The Bible describes us as a vapor or perhaps a blade of grass, but God is eternal. A thousand years is like a day to God and a day as a thousand years, peter says.

Speaker 1:

Jesus is telling us, eternal life is to know him, to know him, jesus, and to know the one who sent him, his father. Just think of it. The eternal, the almighty, the all-consuming God, yahweh, jehovah, god, is offering you eternal life with him in his glory. It is God's gift to you through his amazing son, jesus Christ. God has sent him, his son, from eternity, into this world, this painful world that is passing away, so that you might know him Now. I realize that's a lot you know to grasp. I realize it's hard to understand. You know the concept of these things. You know eternality and so forth. God is uncreated and so forth. Well, they are spiritual matters, the Bible says.

Speaker 1:

The Bible tells us that no one understands. That's Romans, chapter 3, verse 11. And how so? Well, because our human nature is so corrupt and so blind by sin. You won't understand God's truth. We can't understand God's truth From our perspective. We think that we're fine and that we're not sinners, that we're okay. But it's until you receive God's grace, god's forgiveness and his spirit that you will finally see how messed up we truly are and how short we fall from God's perfection.

Speaker 1:

Our sinful nature has darkened our understanding of anything divine. Therefore, we are ignorant of God's truth and because of our ignorance. Our hearts are hard. They are hard to the things of God. They do not receive the things of God. Ignorance does not necessarily cause our hearts to be hard, however. Our hearts are hard because we don't understand. Therefore, we do not know God. We don't know enough about God to realize how much he loves you, nor are you able to love Him in return. We do not seek God, we push God away. We would rather not have anything to do with God, especially since we don't understand.

Speaker 1:

That is what Jesus meant when he said the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God. And if you hear, you will live. And if you hear, you will live. God is spirit. He is the eternal, almighty, omnipotent, all-knowing, omniscient holy spirit that lives and dwells in eternity and glory. And he created this universe.

Speaker 1:

The Bible is the only one that says that. But we are not spirit, we are carnal, we are unspiritual. God is infinite and we are finite. So how can a finite mind, our mind, a human mind, comprehend the infinite mind of Almighty, eternal God? It cannot. You need the eternal Holy Spirit of God to help you. That's what God promised that he would give us his Spirit and the Spirit of him, who sent him, will guide you into all truth. Jesus once said what would a man give in exchange for his soul? What is it profit a man or woman to gain the whole world and lose their soul? What would you give in exchange for eternal life? These are the words of Christ himself, or rather the words of the one who sent him. Thank you.
